Phnom Penh: On Tuesday, 1st of November 2022, Mengly J. Quach Education – ICES Cambodia and ICES Thailand exchanged cooperation achievements and renewed the existing Memorandum of Understanding since the first agreement in 2019 in efforts to strengthen international education and cultural awareness.

The momentous ceremony was held at the Billy V. Chauv Conference Room, 16th Floor, Lim Kim Noy Tower, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in the presence of Mengly J. Quach Education – ICES Cambodia representatives, senior management members, and ICES Thailand.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sophea M. Lay, President of Aii Language Center, a subsidiary of Mengly J. Quach Education, expressed optimism “The MoU renewal is a result of dedication and collaboration. International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES) Cambodia provides opportunities for high school students to study abroad and participate in exchange programs. We will continue to support students as they work to enhance their global capabilities.”

Both parties’ collaborative agreement entails the following aspired objectives:

  1. Increase international awareness and cultural understanding through the high school exchange program to various study destinations such as the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, France, Germany, Japan, Thailand, and other countries.
  2. Offer quality and affordable high school academic programs to countries around the world for students in Cambodia.
  3. Offer students the rare opportunity to learn about another culture, experience new customs and traditions, and establish lifelong friendships.
  4. Provide support for students to embrace the challenges inherent in studying abroad and discover new opportunities that help them dream and succeed in the future.

According to Ms. Eun Lee, the Director of the Study Abroad & Exchange Programs, ICES Cambodia selects students who qualify for language proficiency and academic performance and sends them to study for one or multiple years in the country of their choice. With its initial cooperation in 2019, ICES Cambodia has sent over 25 Cambodian high school students to the USA.

At the same time, ICES Cambodia alumni shared that the one-year exchange program has changed their lives and opened up their views on the world.

“Joining the ICES exchange program and going to America was a life-changing experience. I am a better person working towards my goals and whom I want to be. The exchange year was the most unforgettable moment in my life and I would never trade it for anything else,’’ shared ICES Cambodia Generation 2 student Miss Sonalen Saing. Miss Saing completed her exchange year in Oklahoma and is currently studying in the USA through ICES Cambodia’s F1 High School Academic Program.

International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES) was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in the USA. ICES is an international youth exchange organization. For almost three decades, ICES has promoted a more peaceful world by advancing global awareness and cultural understanding for thousands of students, schools, and host families.
